On Friday, July 5, the Kenyan newspapers reported on the looming Cabinet reshuffle that will see President William Ruto reorganise his government to cut public expenditure and tame the rising wage bill. The StandardPresident William Ruto will scrap at least seven ministries in the looming Cabinet shake-up. Ruto succumbed to pressure from Gen Z protesters who demanded that he fire some Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) and Principal Secretaries (PSs) linked to corruption and wastage in his government. According to the publication, Ruto held a 40-minute meeting with his deputy, Rigathi Gchagua, before joining the jittery CSs.
