Kenyan newspapers on Friday, April 3, highlighted the political meeting between retired president Uhuru Kenyatta, former deputy president (DP) Rigathi Gachagua and other Opposition leaders. The StandardRetired president Uhuru Kenyatta plans to play an active role in the 2027 General Election, with the aim of unseating his successor over what he views as poor leadership and misguided policies. According to participants, Uhuru personally coordinated the attendance of Opposition leaders at the burial. He used the meeting to caution them against what he described as Ruto’s attempts to divide them. The NIS recorded one of the largest gains, with its allocation rising by KSh 10 billion from KSh 51.4 billion to KSh 61.4 billion.
