In a gazette notice dated Wednesday, January 31, Kindiki declared Mackenzie's church an organised criminal group. The government had moved to court to appeal the orders of the High Court that stated that the project was unconstitutional and discriminatory, wanting the suspension lifted. In the ruling, the judges argued that it would be unfair to lift the ruling by the High Court when the opponent's sides were not yet addressed. In July 2023, Jomo filed a case at the High Court seeking to have the government compelled to rescind its move to withdraw his gun licence. Appearing before High Court judge Jairus Ngaah on Wednesday, January 31, Jomo withdrew the case against the national government.
