Kenya varsity students recruited to killFrom MARIA MACHARIA in Nairobi, KenyaNAIROBI, (CAJ News) – PUBLIC universities in Kenya have disintegrated into recruitment bases for Islamic extremists and terror groups. According to authorities, terrorist organisations such as the Al-Shabaab were radicalizing the university students, training them and deploying them to carry out deadly acts in the East African country and neighbouring Somalia, where the Al-Shabaab is based. Addressing university students during an orientation in Naivasha, north west of Nairobi, Sakah said government would deploy police at tertiary institutions in order to thwart terrorism networks. Kenya has announced plans to close the Dabaab, the world’s largest refugee centre on allegations it had become a breeding ground for Al-Shabaab terrorists. The refugee camp houses over 245 000 refugees who have fled terrorism and hunger in Somalia over the years.
