"We suspect areas along the Turkwel belt to be having oil prospects since the region borders Turkana’s Ngamia 1 where the company discovered oil," he said. "We have given the company go ahead to carry out prospects on oil exploration in the County in areas along Turkwel region belt," he said. Kachapin assured investors that the region was safe after West Pokot and Turkana Counties and national government cooperated to end cattle rustling menace. He however pointed out that the activities that will be conducted by Tullow are in anticipation of discovery since striking oil was not guaranteed.
