Updated Fri, November 18th 2016 at 00:00 GMT +3Kenya Power could be losing millions of shillings as rogue employees carry out illegal connections. Sources in Nyeri County who spoke to The Standard and are beneficiaries of the illegal power connections said they paid the technicians between Sh8,000 and Sh20,000. He said Kenya Power employees justified the amount claiming despite the fact his home is next to the power line, they would have to use a different transformer, almost two kilometres away, to supply his home. "The amount was high and so when a person who said he works with Kenya Power approached my wife and told her there was an alternative, we agreed," he explained. The family paid Sh20,000 to the agent and within two weeks, the family's home was connected to electricity.
