Njuguna’s mother, Gladys Wangari, said she clung to hope that her son was still alive until she saw his body. Wangari revealed she had travelled on the day of the incident and only learnt of the tragedy upon returning home. His sister, Winnie, said Mwaura left Kenya after being promised a lucrative security job paying about KSh250,000 per month. Kang’ethe’s family is facing similar uncertainty as his brother, Paul Kabue, said the two travelled together and later confirmed arrival. In their defence, the Attorney General, police authorities and the officers denied wrongdoing and questioned the legality of the petition.
