Renowned tech company Microsoft has noted that despite digital technologies predicting to add up to USD 14 trillion to the global economy, enterprises in the African region will not be benefiting from this surge. A case study presented by Microsoft during a sensitization forum for businesses showed that majority of company bosses cited digital transformation as their key priority (86 per cent). Klimashev however noted that banks are leading in the adopting digital technology especially with the use of cloud both in Africa and Middle East. Locally, mobile is the biggest technology transformation with a penetration of 88 per cent. Some of the investments made by Microsoft to boost digital transformation for business include Oil and Gas Centre of Excellence in the United Arab Emirates.
