The favorite has now won for the sixth year in a row and won the third-fastest half mile in Derby history despite the horrid track conditions. Jockey Mike Smith was the oldest rider in the field at 52 years old and won his second Derby in 59 Triple Crown mounts, with trainer Bob Baffert winning his fifth Derby. Him, American Pharoah, these are great horses and it took a great horse to win today. Good Magic made a good run, making it a two-horse race for much of the stretch run, but Justify pulled away down the stretch. Those winning will be split among the many ownership stakes in the horse and the jockey getting 10 percent of the earnings.
