The fire took place on the first floor of Walters House, which is located not far from Kennington Park. Around 100 people were evacuated from the building and a number of other residents stayed in their flats, firefighters said. The London Fire Brigade said the fire is now "under control" and there are no reports of any injuries. A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said: "Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters are tackling a flat fire on Otto Street in Kennington. "The whole of the first floor flat is damaged by the blaze but crews have prevented in spreading further.
