Yes to sober second thought and prudent proposals, no to a Senate that overreaches itself. Bill C-14, which would legalize assisted dying, has provided that opportunity, and grateful senators are embracing it with enthusiasm. It seems certain that whatever its final form, Bill C-14 will face strenuous legal challenges. In the case of Bill C-14, it would appear they are very worthy indeed.
