Sen. Elizabeth Warren finally caved Wednesday and offered her endorsement to former U.S. vice-president Joe Biden, in his bid to defeat President Donald Trump in November. With Obama and Warren officially onside, Biden is free to look for a running mate who’s able to satisfy a challenging list of criteria. If anything about the upcoming campaign can be deemed certain, it’s that things will get nasty fast, and then nastier. Given Biden’s relatively mild manner, it may be that his running mate inherits much of the dirty work. Which means that, whatever other attributes she might possess, the eventual choice better have a really thick skin, and a taste for blood.
