Nevermind that Pat Sorbara, Premier Kathleen Wynne’s closest adviser, party boss and director of the Liberals’ re-election team, faces two counts of bribery under the provincial Elections Act for activities related to a 2015 byelection in Sudbury. Ontarians, Matthews argued, aren’t interested in piffling little matters like ethics and honesty. If media reaction is anything to go by, Wynne and Matthews have a tough road ahead. Wynne has yet to concede even a single instance of bad judgement, much less admit her government is bone tired and bankrupt of ideas. And with that level of indifference, maybe they won’t even need Pat Sorbara to pull their fat from the fire.
