The 21 members of the legislative assembly were appointed parliamentary secretaries in March last year. Through the Bill, the AAP government wanted ”retrospective” exemption for the parliamentary secretaries from disqualification provisions. The chief minister further questioned why parliamentary secretaries of other states have not been disqualified. He said the parliamentary secretaries in the AAP government are working for free while MLAs given similar roles in other states are compensated handsomely. ”There are Parliamentary Secretaries in Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, West Bengal and across the country.
