The outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar, has left a legacy of judicial activism which at times was not constrained to institutional bounds. Justice Khosa is going to remain the chief justice of the Supreme Court for about a year. That means he has around one year to actually implement his vision for the court and the wider footprint of the institution beyond the court. The focus on the court is going to shift from where it has been for the past three years. Whoever keeps up with the pace of the court will have the better of 2019.
