Theresa May was on combative form at Prime Minister’s Questions; no more ministers have resigned and no votes have been lost by her government — at least at the time of writing. By the turbulent standards of recent politics, it has been a pretty good week for the prime pinister so far. Expectations are so low that any progress on the government’s legislative programme is considered an achievement. But some Tory MPs are still furious at the prime minister’s handling of the EU withdrawal bill. The former Attorney General Dominic Grieve has described Theresa May’s attempt to write the Brexit date onto the face of the bill as “mad”.
