Southland seems to be in the midst of a growing obsession, one that has rugby officials, as well as police, urging people to keep their clothes on. A spate of streakers have taken to the Rugby Park field in Invercargill in recent weeks and officials have had enough. Five in total ditched their clothes on Saturday and made a dash for freedom across the Rugby Park field, only to be caught and handed two-year trespass notices. While Rugby Southland general manager Steve Mitchell acknowledged some found the spate of streakers humorous he added it was silly behaviour that needed to stop. Mitchell said it distracted from the rugby which was why people were at Rugby Park and it was not acceptable.
