Mary Mitchell O'Connor, the jobs minister, is embroiled in a row with the Low Pay Commission over the pledge LEON FARRELL/ROLLING NEWSThe government should ignore the Low Pay Commission and press ahead with plans to raise the minimum wage to €10.50 by 2021, a Fine Gael TD has said. The Sunday Times reported yesterday that the government had effectively abandoned its pledge after the Low Pay Commission (LPC) demanded a guarantee of its independence in May and suspended all its work calculating this year’s wage increase.
