KeNHA orders removal of roadside billboards and structures along James Gichuru–JKIA Rd

“All roadside developments (billboards, direction and advertisement signs, tree nursery beds and temporary structures) within the said road reserve should be removed within 14 days from the date of this Notice to pave way for implementation of the project works,” he said. Kimeli said any structures not removed within this period will be taken down without further reference to the owners or operators. The authorities have urged owners of billboards, signage and other temporary structures to comply promptly to avoid removal at their cost. This comes after President William Ruto announced the commencement of reconstruction and beautification works along Mombasa Road, stretching from JKIA to ABC. Speaking on December 12, 2025, Ruto said the initiative aims to enhance road safety, ease traffic flow and improve the aesthetic appeal of one of Kenya’s busiest highways.
