A man was treated for hypothermia after he and a friend were tipped out of their kayaks north of Auckland. "Certainly make sure you're aware of the weather forecast, and make a trip report with coastguard or maritime radio before you go." The call stated a wave had tipped two kayakers out of their kayaks and into the water north of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula. Coastguard duty officer Johnny Clough said a distress call came through the maritime radio about 11.20am on Saturday.
