A kayaker seen amongst the pod of seven orca in the shallow Pāuatahanui inlet north of Wellington has experts concerned for the welfare of the animals. DOC Marine Species Manager Ian Angus said the orca appeared to be having difficulty finding their way out of the inlet. MONIQUE FORD/Stuff DOC Marine Species Manager Ian Angus said the orca may be having difficultly finding their way out of the shallow inlet. Angus said that any further action would be based on advice from marine mammal specialists, including from DOC, Project Jonah and international experts.
