Plans are underway to install Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro as coast region kingpin ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta August tour. Mung’aro has been holding meetings and discussing the matter with Mijikenda Kaya elders from across the county. "We settled on Mung'aro as we are confident he will deliver not only in Kilifi county but the entire coast region," the source said on Monday. Mung'aro confirmed that he has been holding meetings and welcomed the elders' possible decision to crown him. But his ambition is expected to heighten his rivalry with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, who has been viewed as coast kingpin.
