Stanford swimmer Katie Ledecky broke two NCAA records Sunday, as well as her own American record in the 1,650-yard freestyle, at a meet at Ohio State. In her first month as a collegiate swimmer, Ledecky, a 19-year-old freshman from Bethesda, has already set new NCAA marks in the 500-, 1,000- and 1,650-yard freestyles. In addition, she was credited with a new NCAA record at 1,000 yards, as her split Sunday beat the record at that distance that she had set earlier this month. Before starting at Stanford, Ledecky had not swum regularly in a 25-yard pool since graduating from Stone Ridge in 2015, and she had not swum the 1,650 free since December 2014, a 15:13.30 that stood as the American record until Sunday. Ledecky, a five-time Olympic gold medalist and nine-time world champion, will be in New York on Monday night for the annual Golden Goggle awards.
