This morning saw the debut of the first trailer for Kathryn Bigelow's much-anticipated Detriot. The drama is set during the 1967 riots in Watts, Detriot in the summer of 1967 and it looks to be a doozy. This will be Bigelow's first picture since the modern classic that was Zero Dark Thirty, so it is automatically something of an event. And that Annapurna Pictures is dropping it on Aug. 4 means that all parties believe it is a commercial picture as well. Could Dope have crawled to $17m in the summer of 2017 as opposed to the summer of 2015?
