Now O’Connor is the Green candidate for Saanich South in the provincial election that will be held on Oct. 24 —just over two weeks after her 18th birthday. But although she advocates for more young people in politics, O’Connor said she’s tired of the media focus on her age. One of the decisions to have particularly irked O’Connor recently, was the decision by the NDP government to hold the election in which she’s running. Loading... Loading... Loading... Loading... Loading...“It is such a ridiculous and irresponsible plan to have an election in the middle of a pandemic,” she said, accusing the NDP of putting the party’s interests over those of the public. In that election, the Green candidate in Saanich South came in third, about 4,800 votes behind Popham, according to Elections BC.
