Now O’Connor is the Green candidate for Saanich South in the provincial election that will be held on Oct. 24 —just over two weeks after her 18th birthday. But although she advocates for more young people in politics, O’Connor said she’s tired of the media focus on her age. In that election, the Green candidate in Saanich South came in third, about 4,800 votes behind Popham, according to Elections BC.
