It views that the Thai economy will maintain steady growth into the second half of this year, while the growth in the first half grew faster than expected, driven by exports and private consumption. On Wednesday The Bank of Thailand (BOT) upgraded its forecast for the country’s economic growth to 3.5 per cent from 3.4 per cent and says it will continue to monitor shortterm fund flows that have caused the baht to appreciate. The seven members of the central bank’s Monetary Policy Committee on Wednesday voted unanimously to leave the policy rate untouched at 1.5 per cent, as the economic recovery still has legs.
