Summer vacations have no set dates in Jammu and Kashmir but are usually announced when the temperature rises in the Valley. The state government today issued two orders announcing the summer vacation. Many Valley residents expressed surprise on social media at the summer vacation dates. The Valley is bracing for a showdown between security forces and pro-azadi protesters on Wani's death anniversary. Wani's death triggered massive five-month-long protests in the Valley in which close to 100 civilians died and thousands suffered injuries in firing by security forces.
