Karua announces 2017 presidential bid

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has officially announced her intention to contest for the presidential seat in the 2017 general elections. “I would like to urge women leaders not to relent until the bill is passed,” said Karua. The Narc Kenya Party leader also took a swing at the members of parliament for shutting down the two-third gender rule, which was tabled before the floor of the house. Karua also took the opportunity to encourage women to vie for elective seats saying research had shown that only a few women were serving as elected leaders both in the national assembly and county assemblies with a majority of them opting for nominations. Speaking on Monday while addressing women MCAs drawn from the 47 counties who had converged at Flamingo Beach resort in Mombasa for a week long County Assembly Forum on Monday, Karua said she had learnt from her previous mistakes and is now confident of clinching the top seat.
