The happiest Indians on October 22 were Karan Johar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray. A crisis got averted as the Producers' Guild led by Mukesh Bhatt agreed to not hire Pakistani artists, ever, for their films, a decision which appeased the MNS. And finally, the MNS got what they wanted - Pakistani artists banned, an easy victory achieved through through intimidation and populism. In a closed-door meeting on October 22, Maha CM Devendra Fadnavis basically brokered a truce between Karan Johar and the producers, and Raj Thackeray. At one point, the man supported the indefinite ban on Pakistani artists by the Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association (IMPPA).
