Karachi Circular Railway resumes partial service


KARACHI: The Pakistan Railways (PR) partially resumed on Thursday the much-delayed Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) service on a 14-kilometre cleared stretch of the around 55-kilometre route of the old passenger service, Radio Pakistan reported. The federal government allocated Rs10.5 billion ($US 66.41m) of funding to restore the service in the 2020-2021 budget. According to the schedule, the first train will depart from Orangi Railway Station at 6:30 am on Thursday (today) for the up track while the local train on down track will depart from Marshalling Yard Pipri Railway Station at 7:00 am. The second train will leave Orangi Railway Station at 10:00 am; the third at 1:00 pm and the fourth at 4:00 pm. For the down track, the local train will depart from Marshalling Yard railway station at 7:00 am, covering the same stops to reach Orangi railway station at 09:45 am while the second train will leave the Marshalling Station at 9:30 am; third at 1 pm and fourth at 4:30 pm.
