Kanyemba bridge project will create more jobs for Zim, Zambia and Malawi

The Y-link bridge project which is expected to commence soon, is a brain child of the Zimbabwean government in line with the country’s vision 2030 of transforming Zimbabwe into a middle income economy. Kanyemba bridge will be used as a deck to ferry heavy trucks across the Zambezi into Zambia and Mozambique, and it will provide an alternative to the north-south corridor initiative within the SADC region. The project will also create the shortest route linking up Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique, reducing the link distance by a massive 550 km and thus cutting costs on fuel and time. “The bridge will connect three nations, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique and the construction process is likely going to be a partnership although we can’t talk much about that yet. The construction of Kanyemba bridge also means the revival of the Kanyemba border post that was closed by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) because the law did not allow offloading of goods in-transit.
