The Karnataka cabinet has approved the draft State Employment of Local Candidates in Industries, Factories, and Other Establishments Bill. This bill mandates the reservation of 50% of management jobs and 75% of non-management jobs for Kannadigas. It covers the entire private sector, including the IT sector, and will be tabled in the current assembly session. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah said that the state government's priority was to look after the welfare of Kannadigas. In a recent development, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah reportedly deleted his post on the state's reservation in the private sector for local citizens or Kannadigas.
