Kangaroos can survive in the wild in Ireland

It may come as a surprise to some to hear that there are kangaroos living wild and thriving in Ireland. Well, to split a hair, they are not kangaroos in the popular meaning of the word, they are wallabies. Kangaroos and wallabies are both members of the same family of marsupials native to Australia. The marsupials found in Ireland are Red-necked Wallabies and they are confined to Lambay Island lying 4km off Portrane on the north coast of Co Dublin. No dietary studies have been carried out to establish what the Lambay wallabies are living on.
