Rangoli’s remarks came immediately after she commented on a statement made by Deepika Padukone’s Live Love Laugh Foundation, against Kangana’s upcoming film Mental Hai Kya. By ‘nepotism gang’ Rangoli is probably referring to filmmaker Karan Johar and his frequent collaborators, who have been criticised by Kangana in the recent past. The new row erupted after the Indian Psychiatry Society objected to Mental Hai Kya’s title and demanded a change. Many millions who suffer with mental illness in India already face tremendous stigma. Directed by Prakash Kovelamudi, written by Kanika Dhillon and produced by Ekta Kapoor, Mental Hai Kya is slated for a June 21 release.
