PETALING JAYA: The Education Ministry has confirmed that an incident where a teacher appears to repeatedly punch a student, captured in a video making its rounds on social media, did not happen in Malaysia. Deputy Education Minister Datuk P Kamalanathan said that the incident is believed to have taken place in Indonesia. Kamalanathan said that it was reported on an Indonesian news portal, Warta Kota, that the incident took place there. The 38-second video, which shows an adult man repeatedly punching a student inside a classroom in full view of other students, has been circulating on social media. Kamalanathan reminded all parties to always verify the validity of all information that is sourced from social media.
