The visit comes as a preventive measure against possible fire incidents like in 2017 when a fire in Mojo's Bistro restaurant and bar in Kamala Mills claimed 14 lives. The team from December 28 will check all hotels and restaurants in and around Parel, especially the vicinity of Kamala Mills and Raghuvanshi Mills. The team will include officials from the licensing department; markets, shops, and establishments department; and fire department. A major fire broke out in December last year in two hotels in the Kamla Mills compound killing 14 people and injuring many others. The investigation revealed that the restaurants had blatantly flouted most fire safety norms including the absence of a dedicated fire exit.
