The charter places few limits on the process, as long as enough valid signatures are collected. If residents are willing to sign a recall petition, it should send council members a message. Council members are being targeted for nebulous reasons. The latest recall effort casts a negative light on the council and on the city as a whole. The recall provision is a valid tool, but it’s hard to say whether it is being misused.
