Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday, June 16, stated that the Mt Kenya region should take the lead in demonstrating against the increased taxation being proposed in the Finance Bill. According to Kalonzo, the region which in the past did not largely participate in opposition-led demos would be most affected should the Finance Bill be passed by the National Assembly as earlier proposed. Kalonzo further accused President William Ruto of targeting the country’s middle class with punitive taxes. Kalonzo who served as Kenya’s 10th vice president has already declared his intention to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.
