Valentine and Shanelle Kaka were brought closer by the shared challenges faced early in their lives. Photo / SuppliedNorthland woman Shanelle Kaka has spent 22 years healing since the car she and her baby brother were travelling in crashed at an intersection killing her young mother instantly. And now the 27-year-old is mending new wounds after that same brother, Valentine Kaka, died after being hit by a car on Matthews Ave in Kaitaia on Tuesday evening. Shanelle said despite living in separate towns and leading different lifestyles from 24-year-old "Val", the love she shared with her brother always had a strong heartbeat. Valentine Kaka, 24, with his nieces - Shanelle Kaka's daughters - shared a strong bond with his sister.
