KQ announces Sh900 million profit in six months

Kenya Airways has announced an operating profit of Sh900 million in the six months to September 2016, compared to operating losses of Sh2.2 billion last year. This is attributed to lower operating costs and increased passenger numbers. KQ also attributes the improvement to a 3.3 per cent growth in cabin, recording increased passenger numbers to 2.2 million from 2.11 million during the period. Lower operating costs have been achieved through fleet rationalisation, in the “Operation Pride” recovery strategy. Fleet ownership costs reduced by 35 per cent to Sh8.5 billion.
