KLCI likely to remain under pressure as U.S. election, Brexit ruling rattles markets

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 4): Stocks on Bursa Malaysia are likely to come under pressure again today in line with the overnight close at most global equity markets as the U.S. election fever as well as a UK court ruling on Brexit gripped investors and drove equities lower. Global equity prices drifted lower on Thursday as worries about the U.S. presidential election continued to weigh on investor sentiment, while sterling rose after a UK court ruled that the British government needed Parliament's approval to trigger Brexit, according to Reuters. Longer-dated U.S. Treasury prices slipped after the Bank of England indicated that inflation is likely to rise further, and oil prices remained weak on skepticism about OPEC's planned production limit, it said. Based on corporate announcements and news flow yesterday, companies that may be in focus today could include: Unisem (M) Bhd, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd, Gadang Holdings Bhd, Tenaga Nasional BHd, KLCCP Stapled Group, Acoustech Bhd, MMC Corp Bhd and Tien Wah Press Holdings Bhd.
