KIPP, the city’s largest charter network, is expanding with a lease for a vacant D.C. campus


It will be KIPP’s second stand-alone D.C. high school. ADKihn said he does not anticipate the second KIPP high school cutting into enrollment at nearby neighborhood campuses. Last year, KIPP DC took over a failing charter middle and high school, Somerset College Preparatory Academy Public Charter School in Southeast Washington. ADStill, KIPP DC was the only charter school to apply to lease the Ferebee-Hope building, city officials said. ADKeith Moore, student body president at KIPP DC Somerset College Preparatory Academy, said he has been an advocate of a stand-alone high school.
