The right to protest is not a lesser right than the right to vote – as Mr Trump evidently believes given his tweet after the protest. It was great that there were no violent protesters at the women’s marches. Conversely, every time authorities do as they should and facilitate protests, you rarely find violent protesters. Please note: we talk about violent protesters not violent protests because the fact that a few people are violent does not impinge on other’s individual right to enjoy their right to peaceful assembly. Anyone who has been in protests can attest to the sense of bonding, uplifting and confidence that protests provide.
