Kenya may have flopped at the recently concluded Hockey Africa Cup of Nations but the infrastructural lessons learnt by the top officials who accompanied the team in Egypt will no doubt give the country’s City Park Stadium a totally new look. Locally, GreenFields laid the artificial playing surfaces at Moi Stadium, Kisumu and Camp Toyoyo, Jericho and will renovate City Park at a cost of Sh25m within a period of four months. The company highlighted the drainage system, a new playing surface, sub base, goal posts, underground pressure pumps, inner fence and replacement of the advertising boards as the key areas for change. The company seek to refurbish the pitch to international standards as per FIH requirements. However, the works will be delayed for a year as the federation applies for funding from the government as well as wait for a nod from of their proposal to Africa Hockey Union.
