Kenya Air Force Lt Col Rodah Mwasigwa will take over the role for a year, becoming the first female KDF officer to hold the position. The task force originated under Operation Enduring Freedom – Horn of Africa as part of the US response to the September 11, 2001 attacks. With a mission covering 12 different countries throughout East Africa, the ability to work with various units and nations is key to the success of the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa.
