Joint Task Force Ranao Deputy Commander Romeo Brawner Jr. said the K-9 units will be deployed in the main battle area. They will help in the clearing operations as government forces scour the buildings used as lairs by the Maute-ISIS terrorists during the siege. The K-9 units are particularly searching for explosive devices. Some foreign experts have also arrived in Marawi City to assist in the clearing operations.
