Jute mill workers finally get paid under new wage scale


This wage scale was supposed to be effective from July 1, 2015. Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) on Thursday issued the slips to the workers for their wages from January 4 to 11. The pay slips were issued in line with the latest wage scale, he maintained. As of 10pm, Dhaka Tribune confirmed that workers of 10 jute mills in Khulna, Jessore and Narsingdi received the pay slips. In line with the new wage scale, jute mill workers’ minimum wages are supposed to increase from a paltry Tk4,150 to Tk8,300.
