So far, three reports—two final reports and one judicial inquiry commission report—have been placed before the court regarding the abduction of Kalpana. After 23 years, there is still no word of her whereabouts, neither is there any indication of whether she is alive. The first probe committee of the case was formed under retired justice, Abdul Jalil, and consisted of three members. Kalpana Chakma was the first kidnapped woman in independent Bangladesh after journalist Selina Parvin's kidnapping in 1971. The Hill Women's Federation will hold a roundtable discussion in Dhaka today, marking the day of abduction of their former leader.
