Just how much are houses increasing in price? The prices of houses continue to rise, but bank economists say they are on ice for now. The annual increase in the price of housing peaked in early 2017, when prices were up nearly 7 per cent compared to the year before. In the latest data from Statistics New Zealand, house prices are up about 5 per cent compared to December last year. ANZ's latest Property Focus report said housing prices were "effectively staying 'on ice' for the foreseeable future, with modest growth overall".
