The false ceiling crashed around 2.35pm, when Ayan Mondal was checking on Renu Biwi, in mid-20s, moments before she was to be taken to the labour room. Biwi escaped with minor injuries because of Mondal's presence of mind, according to the hospital authorities. "The patient received minor injuries. The false ceiling had been done as the ward is being air-conditioned. Chakraborty said it was unclear why the false ceiling crashed.
